Mike received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University-Upland where he maintained a double major in Business Administration and Communications. Upon graduating, he worked in advertising before joining Lincoln National Corporation in December of 1985.
While at Lincoln, Mike worked in various capacities relative to the qualified plans arena including: plan administration, product development, marketing and client consultant. In 1994 Mike moved to Lincoln Financial Advisors of Indiana to serve as Director, Pension Marketing. During this time he was able to build a substantial personal business focused on qualified plans.
After leaving Lincoln, Mike formalized his business with the creation of SMS Benefit Advisors, LLC in March 2004. Currently, he works with more than 60 corporate clients to provide qualified plan benefits to their employees. These plans represent more than $50,000,000 in assets under management and more than 3,000 participants.
With the formation of SMS Benefit Advisors, LLC he has expanded his focus to be a comprehensive solution to employers who provide employee and executive benefit programs.
Mike is a Registered Representative of Sigma Financial Corporation. He is involved with Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana, is a member of the American Society Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and is active in his church, The Chapel. He is married to Dawn and has two children, Andrew and Anna.
